Ambassador P. Harish’s visit to Binh Duong Province

Ambassador Mr. P. Harish, accompanied by Consul General Mrs. Smita Pant, paid an official visit to Binh Duong Province on February 10, 2017 . During his visit, he called on H.E. Mr. Tran Van Nam, Party Secretary and H.E. Mr. Tran Thanh Liem, Chairman of the People’s Committee of the Binh Duong Province.

At the meeting, both sides discussed cooperation in the fields of information technology (IT), renewable energy and capacity building. Ambassador invited the provincial leadership to participate at the forthcoming CLMV Conclave (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar & Vietnam) being held in Jaipur in India later this month. Ambassador informed the leadership of TATA’s proposal to invest US $ 50 million in setting up a freeze dried instant coffee plant at VSIP-II with a capacity of 5000 tonnes per annum. Mr. Indronil Sengupta, representative of Tata Sons in Vietnam, attended the meeting.

Ambassador also paid a visit to Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP)-I in Binh Duong where Mr. Ly Hung, Acting Vice Chairman of VSIP Management Board and Mr. Jack Zhea Tan, CSD received him and gave a detailed presentation on the layout and economic activities of VSIP-I. Later Ambassador visited the manufacturing facility of Godrej Vietnam (specializing in steel furniture items), which is the first Indian investment in the province in VSIP-1 made two decades ago.
